Importance of Data Security

Over the past few years, start-ups have used to cloud-based solutions to enter the market and they have used cloud-based solutions to build highly scalable systems. Many enterprises are fascinated with the whole concept of cloud computing and they are bemused with the advantages that the cloud has to offer. Whilst benefits in terms of technology and finance sounds seductive there are still factors such as security and visibility of data must be taken into account. (Khajeh-Hosseini, Greenwood, & Sommerville, 2010). Even if there are services such as pay-as-you-go through a popular medium of payment some SMEs are skeptical to adopt to the cloud. The objective is to understand the concerns that might prevent the SMEs from adopting cloud and why some SMEs will not hesitate and go with the flow and adopt cloud-based technology into their environment.

“Controls for Data Security are not about machines and it’s about Human beings” made a statement by Shaluf, Ahmadun.

How much ever care is taken for data security by keeping as many security controls as possible, it is not going to be addressed effectively without user awareness of possible threats and vulnerabilities.

All the data security controls are designed by human beings and all the security threats are caused by human beings only. Hence, every new solution brings in new problems and risks.

It is the human beings that will make difference for data security by diligently following the security methods prescribed and by intelligently forecasting the possible threats from unknown links, mails.

Identified that the perception of experts and understanding of customers on Data Security is very much aligned and ascertain the standardized view.

Cloud Services Usage is varied based on the customer needs, location of operations, and regulatory compliances

Vulnerabilities & Threats discussed by the experts are only limited and there may be many more unknown risks for data security with the use of cloud services.
